Checking the baggage weight This is Jodi. She was our primary contact as we planned our trip over many months. She has to weigh all the baggage before it can go on the plane. The limit is 50 pounds per person. If the baggage is too heavy, it takes away from supplies that have to go up on the plane. Remember, in the summer time, there is no other way to get there.
Jodi and Niko Jodi and Niko - the newest addition to the operation.
Pre-dawn check and a clean windshield Bolton Lake Lodge has their own fleet of aircraft. Here, our pilot pre-flights the Piper Navajo.
Swapping fish stories already Bolton planes operate from their private hanger about 30 miles north of Winnipeg.

Bob, the fisherman Here I am. Bob, the fisherman.
David, the photographer Here's David, the photographer.
Islander on the way to Bolton Lake The larger and slower Islander departed before our Navajo. We literally passed them on the way up. David got this quick shot on the way by.
View of Main Lodge on Bolton Lake This is the main lodge, a couple of miles (over water) from the air strip.
On the Ground at Bolton Lake On the ground and getting our things out of the plane.
Islander on the Ground at Bolton Lake Unloading the Islander.
Shuttle hop to an Outpost The other folks from Indiana were flying to one of the Bolton Outpost locations. So for them, it was out of one plane and into another. But from here on, it's all liquid runway.
Boats to the Main Lodge For us, it was into the boats for a ride to the Lodge.
